There’s a lot of noise being made about how we ought to change voter laws to call for photo ID: that noise isn’t just noise, it’s wisdom, too.

Though we recognize that our enemies in the Middle East are adherents of some form of Islam, our democratic sense of tolerance restrains us from demonizing the entire faith.

As many of you know, there are only about six weeks of school left. To some, it may scare you and to others it may excite you. There may only be six more weeks until we say goodbye to Furman for the summer, but before that happens, we have finals. They are slowly getting closer and make us nervous or stressed.

By now, I hope everybody’s heard about the Poinsett Project. If those new Office365 emails have not been sorted out for you yet, here’s a basic introduction: headed up by the Poinsett Corridor Revitalization Coalition (PCRC), Furman is sponsoring a day of service on April 11 with an ambitious goal of involving 1,000 students.

Members of the Paladin Track & Field team have certainly proved themselves over the past few weeks. Feb. 23-24th in Birmingham, AL featured the Southern Conference Indoor Championship, where the Paladins had four freshmen named to the All-SoCon Team. Overall, the Paladins placed seventh in the men’s meet and eighth in the women’s tournament.

After a rocky start to the beginning of the season, the team made an impressive showing in their most recent match at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC this past weekend, finishing off the game with a 6-1 win.

Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor will be visiting the Furman campus on Friday, March 23rd. I write to encourage the entire Furman community to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to see one of the great Americans of our time.

With the plethora of the negative stories about frustrating, underperforming, or cheating athletes, we as fans find ourselves hard pressed to maintain a positive outlook on the world of sports.
