Clint Dempsey, former Paladin, made his much anticipated return to Major League Soccer this season after spending the past seven years playing in England. Dempsey is best known for making the jump to the English Premier League, where he scored 57 goals, more than any other American-born player.

Paladin’s Second Half Surge Not Enough to Top Coastal
Furman (0-2) failed to finish a late rally against Coastal Carolina (2-0), falling to their Southern Conference foe 35-28. A couple of early Paladin turnovers helped Coastal jump to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter after scoring on two of their first three possessions. Furman failed to capitalize on early opportunities, missing two field goals, including one to end the first half.
