It has been a long hard season for the Furman men’s basketball team and the Paladin faithful. The Paladins season ended with a 65-50 defeat against Georgia Southern in the first round of the Southern Conference tournament, leaving their final record at 9-21, with just three of those wins coming in conference play.

The Lady Paladins are back on track just in time for a huge conference showdown. After a brief two game road skid to Western Carolina and App State, the Lady Paladins came back with a huge win on the road against Wofford.

Although the Paladins have had a rough start to conference play with a 1-5 record, one player has really stepped up his game. Despite a slow start to the 2013-2014 campaign statistically, Kendrec Ferrara has started the new year with a bang, becoming a primary scoring option for the Paladins.

2014 has not been a good year for the Paladins thus far. Since the beginning of the New Year, the men’s basketball team has stumbled into conference play, dropping its first five games against conference foes.

For the first time in a while, the Furman basketball faithful have something to get excited about. It has been a successful early season thus far under first-year head coach Niko Medved. The Paladins have jumped out to a 2-0 start to the 2013-2014 season with wins over Sewanee and Gardner-Webb.

It’s too bad Furman’s blowout win last Friday night against North Greenville was an exhibition game. Wins were often hard to come by last season as the injury-depleted Paladins finished with a dismal seven wins overall and a 3-15 record against conference opponents — good enough for last place in the SoCon.

The Furman Athletic Department is in the market for a new men’s basketball head coach following Jeff Jackson’s resignation on Friday, March 22 after seven seasons with the team.

The basketball team adds new recruits to add new dynamics to the team for next year.

Chosen to finish ninth out of a total of twelve teams in the Southern Conference preseason coaches poll, the Paladins may not have had the highest expectations heading into the season had but hoped to at least make some noise in conference play.

The men’s basketball team continues their losing streak. They are entering into their final games of the season, hoping to pull out a win.
