The Lady Paladins are back on track just in time for a huge conference showdown. After a brief two game road skid to Western Carolina and App State, the Lady Paladins came back with a huge win on the road against Wofford. The 80-72 victory against their conference rival brings Furman to a 7-5 conference record, boosting them into third place in the Southern Conference as the season heats up and the team enters the second half of conference play.
One of the keys for the Lady Paladins’ success in the Southern Conference thus far has without a doubt been their dominating play at home. Timmons Arena has been a seemingly impenetrable fortress for opposing teams since the beginning of conference play. Coach Jackie Carson’s troops have gone undefeated at home in their 2013-14 SoCon campaign, boasting a flawless 5-0 record as well as a 4-0 non-conference home record (though three of those games came against non-Division I opponents).
On Saturday, Feb. 15, the Lady Paladins will look to defend their home turf and extend their home winning streak even further against conference heavyweight Chattanooga. The Lady Mocs have been flawless in the SoCon this year, coming in with a perfect 12-0 conference record, including a win in Chattanooga against Furman in mid-January. In that game, the Mocs were able to hold the Lady Paladins to just 44 points, the Paladins’ lowest total all year.
Furman will look to avenge that loss and establish themselves as a threat to win the Southern Conference by knocking Chattanooga off their high horse. Come out and support the Lady Paladins in this battle of conference heavyweights at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday and be a part of the crowd, the team’s sixth (wo)man, that has made Timmons Arena an impossible place for opposing teams to win at thus far.
