Lady Paladins Struggle to Find Rhythm

At the half way point of the season, the Lady Paladins have not been able to capitalize on their hot start. They have slid all the way to a 6-11 record, 2-6 in SoCon play, putting them into eighth place in the Southern Conference.

After starting the season 3-1, the girls lost six games in a row. Despite this setback, they managed to regroup and get the season back on track until Jan. 23, when they suffered a heartbreaking triple overtime loss at the hands of the Western Carolina Catamounts here in Greenville.

Senior shooting guard Teshia Griswold paces the team with her 13.7 points per game along with sophomore forward and rebounding machine Brittany Hodges, who contributes 9.3 points and 6.9 boards per contest.

Hodges had a career high 21 points in the loss to Western Carolina, but it was not enough to seal the deal as the team visibly ran out of gas late in the third overtime.

The women’s basketball team is currently holding onto the final Southern Conference Tournament bid to the postseason.

Winning a few games down the stretch is crucial for the women’s team.

Being only a half game ahead of Georgia Southern, the Lady Paladins could really use an upset in the next few games to solidify their spot in the playoffs this year.
