Change is like a boner. It’s hard and sometimes it comes at inconvenient times, but it’s necessary for life to go on. And usually you feel better after it than you did before it.

There are times in college when you just need a good burger and warm cookies. I’m talking Cookout and Dining Hall to the max. But there are also times, actually 90% of the time, when your body needs good, clean fuel. My goal is to give you ways to make healthy eating just a little easier and that occasional splurge just a little more occasional.

School is coming to a close, and with it the summer movie storm is going to start. So many explosions, so many bikinis. Countless villains are going to flow off the screen and into our eyes. It happens every summer, and the bigger the box office opening, the more times we are more likely to go see it.

As the kind warmth of spring takes the place of greedy winter, many Furman students are taking part in the Poinsett Project. The glorious project was an initiative taken last year in an attempt to paint a mural on a Poinsett Highway building, and oversaw the successful construction (and afterwards deconstruction for removal) of a Habitat for Humanity house frame.

Spring has finally sprung here at Furman… until the weather report tells us it’s going to be in the 40’s again at least. But for now, the pastel colored shorts and flip flops have come out of storage. Dress code is not the only thing that has changed at Furman this season. The tulips have been planted and have finally bloomed, baseball season is underway, and Furman students have left the confines of their dorms and apartments to enjoy this blissful weather.

Most visitors to McAlister Auditorium get to see the building’s Georgian brick exterior, its stately chandelier-lit vestibule watched over by busts of Furman presidents past, and the auditorium itself, with its neat rows of white-backed, green-cushioned chairs facing the elegant undulating curtain of the stage.

For $25, you can know everything you’ve ever wanted to know about your future. Lola King, the psychic, lives in a cozy house just a few miles away from Furman University down on Poinsett Highway with her husband. Earlier this week, I had the pleasure and opportunity of meeting with King who gave me a detailed report about my past, present and future.

I am horrified at the thought of having to leave Furman in two weeks. Plagued with senioritis and a solid disdain against the outside world, everything I do seems an act of rebellion towards my eminent departure from North Village. But that hasn’t kept me from indulging in a collection of undeserved self-reward.

A new boutique has arrived in town. Traveling Chic Boutique has joined the gallery of small boutiques, art studios and specialty restaurants that line Main Street. Advertising affordable brand names and promoting support of local charities, the budding franchise is hoping to make its mark on downtown Greenville and the greater Greenville community.
