Spring has finally sprung here at Furman… until the weather report tells us it’s going to be in the 40’s again at least. But for now, the pastel colored shorts and flip flops have come out of storage. Dress code is not the only thing that has changed at Furman this season. The tulips have been planted and have finally bloomed, baseball season is underway, and Furman students have left the confines of their dorms and apartments to enjoy this blissful weather.
With this change of weather comes a change in cuisine. We’re not talking more fruit and fresh vegetables; we’re talking the Paladog. For those of you who have yet to experience the wonders of the Paladog, you’re missing out! Let us give you a little preview. Don’t be fooled by the name, the Paladog has much more to offer than just hot dogs. They’ve got everything from Veggie Burgers to BBQ Sandwiches to chips and cookies. What more could one ask for? To top it off, you can take it to go and take a moment to enjoy this beautiful campus by eating outside.
If you live in SoHo, you might notice the large number of people congregating on E-Field to tan or shoot some hoops. In North Village, the BBQ grills start to get more use as people come to realize that we don’t always have to hide out in the library. As you move your workouts outside, you might start to notice the large number of families who have come to our gorgeous campus to enjoy the springtime. For those wanting a fun Friday afternoon activity, Frisbee on the intramural fields or disc golf around the lake is ideal.
Well, for now spring is here and let’s enjoy it while we can. Take a minute to fully appreciate all this campus has to offer us this season. Maybe do something a little unconventional and spontaneous, and “roll your windows down and cruise!”
