Furman Tops Georgia Southern 16-14
In a low-scoring battle, big plays ruled the day as Furman (4-5) beat SoCon foe Georgia Southern (4-4) 16-14 on Saturday. Furman jumped ahead on the first play from scrimmage when Tanner Skogen completed a 75-yard pass to Andrej Suttles for a touchdown.

At its best, virtual technology connects people and simplifies basic tasks. At its worst, virtual technology can separate, regulate, disconnect, and complicate what should be simple tasks. The Shi Center hosted its annual Arbor Day event this past week to celebrate and provide service for the many beautiful trees on Furman’s campus. Traditionally, Arbor Day has been a day of service, the most popular way of celebrating and showing appreciation for trees being to plant them. This right is what two Furman students cited when asked to step back from the front steps of McAlister Auditorium before the Rev. Jesse Jackson’s address on Wednesday night. Once Denied Entrance, Jesse Jackson Preaches Equality at His “Dream School”
When Jackson, a former presidential candidate and prominent civil rights activist once regarded as the successor to Martin Luther King Jr., graduated from Greenville’s Sterling High School in 1959, Furman’s policy of racial segregation prevented him from attending his hometown university, leading him to enroll instead at the University of Illinois.
