As many of you know, there are only about six weeks of school left. To some, it may scare you and to others it may excite you. There may only be six more weeks until we say goodbye to Furman for the summer, but before that happens, we have finals. They are slowly getting closer and make us nervous or stressed.

This website that glorifies stalking, Facebook, is a phenomenon in our generation. Everyone has one, everyone talks about it, and everyone loves it. It is by far my favorite website. It’s so useful and not creepy at all and a great use of everyone’s time. But here are four reasons why I’m not jumping up and down for joy when people say the word ‘Facebook.’

Hip-hop has been rapidly growing over the past decade, thanks to increased variety within the genre and increased accessibility. It has journeyed from its storytelling and street conscious origins to being the life music of parties to its much more complex and varied makeup today. This week, Furman students witnessed the first ever on-campus screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. EROS (Encouraging Respect of Sexualities) sponsored the screening, showing it Monday and Tuesday night. A costume contest followed each screening which resulted in this writer receiving 2nd place for his interpretation as Dr. Frank-N-Furter.

As a student, homecoming is a time for some football, tailgating, and free funnel cakes on the mall. But as an alumnus, coming home to Furman means sharing the success your degree and your education have provided for you. Hopefully by now you’ve realized the full benefit of the liberal arts education you’re receiving here at Furman.
