Furman women’s golf has a rich history of exceptional athletes competing on its rosters. World Golf Hall of Fame members Beth Daniel and Betsy King, along with two-time major champion and seventeen-time LPGA champion Dottie Pepper are three of the program’s greatest players of all time. In recent years, head coach Jeff Hull has recruited players who continue to put the team in the spotlight. Last year, Natalie Srinivasan won the Annika-Award, which is presented to the most outstanding female collegiate golfer in the nation. Since then, Natalie has turned pro on the LPGA tour and has passed the baton to the next wave of Furman women golfers.

Sophomore Anna Morgan is among these standout players. A Spartanburg native, Morgan currently ranks 238th in the world amongst other amateur golfers.  This past summer, Anna burst into the winner’s circle as she swept two major amateur titles in the Carolinas. She fired a 4-under par, 68 to win the 9th Carolina Women’s Amateur Championship and defeated Savanna Hylton in a two-hole playoff to win the Women’s South Carolina Golf Association’s Championship.

The weekend of Sept. 18-20, Morgan added another win to her record at the Augusta City Amateur. After two rounds of 70 to finish 4-under for the tournament, she was at the top of the leaderboard. “I was really excited to get out and compete again,” Anna said, “I love competing and I love playing aggressive.” Her aggressive style paid off as she rattled off birdie after birdie to win by eight strokes.

Anna Morgan’s aggressive style on the golf course is a contrast to her laid-back personality outside the sport. She never seems to let her performance determine her mood. She can make you laugh no matter what the occasion is and always has a funny comment ready to put a smile on your face. She is deeply cherished by her teammates and her sorority sisters at Kappa Delta, who offer an incredible support system and fan base for her. Anna Morgan is just beginning to make her mark on the women’s golf program, and her Furman family looks forward to seeing what her future holds.
