With the end of a historic career as a Furman Women’s Basketball player comes the beginning of a professional career for Le’Jzae Davidson ‘20. September 1, 2020 will go down as a monumental day for the East Nashville native and Furman women’s Basketball star. This moment in Furman history is not only a big deal for Davidson, but for her family  and trainers back home in East Nashville for whom she is extremely grateful for  supporting her throughout her career.  

Davidson recently signed a professional contract to play overseas and will be joining KBF Bashkimi of the Kosovo Super League within the coming weeks. KBF Bashkimi is a team located in Serbia, which had a strong season, ending with a 14-1 record. She will play alongside another new KBF addition, Jaleesa Avery from Morehead State University, as well as several other players from last year’s squad.  

When asked to describe her journey thus far, Davidson recounted, “Honestly, I didn’t start playing basketball until way later, maybe in my mid-teens, but I always knew I was competitive and being able to unleash my competitive nature while still growing as a person and an athlete really made me fall in love with basketball.” As for how she is preparing herself for the overseas competition, Davidson said, “Currently, I am still on a strict schedule. I work out two times a day and do more cardio than usual, but the steps are no different than preparing for a college season.”

As a senior, Davidson averaged 14.2 points and even became the 24th Lady Paladin to join the 1,000 Point Club with a career 1,753 points, making her the 3rd leading scorer in school history. On top of being the all-time leader in several other categories, Davidson notched several all-conference selections, including a Second Team All-Southern Conference selection during her time at Furman University.  

Through not only her hard work and extreme dedication to basketball, but also to Furman University and the Women’s basketball program, Davidson has created a lasting legacy. Her desire to never be overlooked or outworked has contributed to her Furman success and will no doubt carry over to the next level. She looks forward to being one of the many Furman women to sign a professional contract. Davidson is achieving a lifelong dream and is honored to have been an inspiration to so many others.  

Her favorite quote to live by is: “Never let anybody tell you that you can’t do something. Be your biggest fan and have faith in yourself.”
