Furman Rises Up in U.S. News Rankings

Furman recently made a name for itself in its inclusion to Princeton Review’s “Best 384 Colleges.” The university also moved up in U.S. News’ rankings. As a small liberal arts school with just under three thousand students, Furman University is not always a name that people recognize. Its status and rigorous curriculum is apparent in South Carolina and to other areas the school directly impacts. However, it can be frustrating when students do not hear the same reaction to their school from elsewhere.

Furman was recently recognized as 4th for “Most Politically Active Students” as well as 17th for “Most Accessible Professors.” U.S News and World Report listed Furman as number 51 in the category of best liberal arts colleges, two spots higher than its previous ranking.

Furman is the top liberal arts college in the state of South Carolina. This rise in rankings is credited to the Furman Advantage. Furman has previously been noted in “Top 50 Green Colleges” due to its success in sustainability, as well as in the top 25 schools for “Best Schools For Making an Impact.” Students should feel confident that life after college will be successful because of where they chose to attend school.

Students are excited to see Furman recognized as a rigorous school.

“I think it is well deserved and President Davis has done an incredible job to make our school the best it can be,” said Kendall Lenz, a junior health sciences major. “She works tirelessly to make sure each student at Furman has the best education possible.”

Thanks to the high standards that students are expected to meet and the highly qualified professors and staff, Furman can continue to prosper. This rise in rankings allows for even more progress to be made. The University will have more opportunities in gaining momentum as a top tier college.
